Subject: women's tri shorts - fit question
Just bought 2 different brands of women's tri shorts online, both size XL. Got in yesterday, and they're both actually a little on the loose side compared to my cycle shorts which are a little too tight (size L).
** insert very happy celebrations here, I NEVER thought I'd see XL women's as too big**

They've both got drawstring waists (this seems odd..chafing?) so I'm not worried about them falling off. They fit about like my jammers so they're pretty comfy. I'm worried about the legs tho, which are actually loose and do not grip and hold...they kind of stick but move very easily. But I'm in an in-between size, and am afraid large is going to be too small for awhile.

Suggestions? Is it better to go too tight or too loose in the shorts?

BTW - I did wind up getting a Zoot long tri top, for those who suggested it for coverage, and it's great! Thanks for the recommendation!

One is Sugoi and one is Louis Garneau. They're cut and fit approx the same, at least on me.

If you plan to swim in them I would make sure that they are at least a little tight - otherwise you might have an embarassing incident leaving the water.

I just had the same problem, with a pair of Zoot shorts I ordered online. I decided they were just too baggy to fit under a wetsuit (like, they seemed like they'd ride up and wrinkle) so I sent them back to get the smaller size, which hasn't arrived yet. I suspect I may feel a little self-conscious in the smaller size, but I still think it will be the better option.

Me? Or the Zoot purchaser? I got mine from all3sports and Performance Bicycle. You can't beat the clearance items on all3sports right now...got the zoot long tri top for $20.

Have decided that since I have to keep the clearance XL shorts, I'll ship back the Sugoi and get the next size down instead. If I can't wear them right now, hopefully I'll shrink into them.

RE: wardrobe malfunction on exiting the water...I trust the drawstring, don't anticipate that happening...but...it would so horrify anyone behind me that it would just put me at a competitve advantage

Where did you order them from?

TriSports.com, and then another pair from Sports Basement (they only had the dark grey, not the black). The Sports Basement ones were $20, which I was pretty happy about. Unfortunately I had already placed the TriSports order, and I won't go into the details but I couldn't return them for a refund, only store credit. So now I will have two pairs of the XS--I hope they fit!
