Subject: Drinking water when swimming
Is it strange to have a bottle of water when swimming?

I find myself really thirsty after i complete my swimming.

I now bring a bottle of water with me when I swim.  Swimming is just like cycling or running, you need to keep yourself hydrated.  We really don't think too much about it but you will also find that you can work up a sweat while swimming and drinking water is what we do when we run and bike.  Plus I think the chlorine dries out my mouth and makes me thirsty.  Either way, we all need to be drinking water as much as possible when doing any workouts.  My 2 cents anyway.

I also bring my water or sports drink to the pool almost every time.

I live about 20 mins from the pool so I prefer to tank up before I get in the pool.
I am also pretty diligent about keeping water with me at my desk during the day so I am constantly hydrated.
It works for me - after our Masters practice cool down I often find myself doing an unscheduled "brick" to the bathroom......

I keep a water bottle at the end of my lane.

Of course!! Did you know you can actually sweat more when swimming than when running or biking? You can dehydrate quick, but you don't feel it as fast cause you are in water. I keep a bottle at the end of my lane and I take small sips every once in a while. I know I don't drink as much as when I bike, but thats because the water doesn't leave me as thirsty.

So take your water! It will show everyone who is serious about thier training
