Swim
  • 10m 19s
  • 600 yards
  • 01m 43s / 100 yards
Comments:

Goggles flipped down and filled first lap. Stopped and fixed them. Swim felt relaxed but fast
What would you do differently?:

Tighten my flipping straps
Transition 1
  • 00m 50s
Comments:

Tried to put on a vest from the pool. One sleeve went in well. The other was a pain and slowed me down.
What would you do differently?:

Ditch the vest
Bike
  • 36m 32s
  • 13 miles
  • 21.35 mile/hr
Comments:

Chain dropped off when shifting to the little ring while crossing RR tracks. Got my groove about half way through and felt near invincible. Picked off a few riders that gapped me pretty good at the start.

The wind was fierce and seemed to be a headwind for much of the ride.

I am sure the bike was 12.5 miles and not 13.
What would you do differently?:

Lube the chain for expected weather conditions.
Transition 2
  • 00m 38s
Comments:

Slow getting shoes on and cinched up.
What would you do differently?:

I need to try speed laces.
Run
  • 19m 5s
  • 3 miles
  • 06m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

Beginning felt tough. Burped several times. Hammer HEED related or swallowing air?

Was the run shorter than 3 mi?
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Early Race
Lack of Speed work
Bike was slow

Event comments:

Great race to begin the season. Pool swim was not all that bad. The wait for my wave was really long

Great Job!!!!! I bet your transition area was right by mine!!! I remember a guy eating cereal and covering his stuff!!(great idea). Anyway you did a great job, even with the wind!!! I can't get over that part of the race!! Well hopefully we could all get together at Nevis, I am looking forward to that one, its such a nice race. Were you the last wave????

Have a great season and good luck

I was eating cereal. Were you set up right next to me?

I was in the last wave, and it was quite a wait. Thankfully, there were three others from the Park Rapids area that I knew quite well also in the last wave... and one other in the 7th wave that made the wait more enjoyable.
