hi everyone, in last month's triathlete magazine, there was an article (which turned out to be written by the CEO of the company) written on BIOBUILDE. Apparently, this protein product is absorbed by the body at 99% vs 83% waste (whey, soy, ects) of other protein products. It's outrageous cost of $66 for 100 tablets (including shipping) was offset by the fact that Lance Armstrong and his team use this product daily, along with Peter Reid and Lori Bowden (curernt Ironman Hawaii champions), along with Paula Newby Frasier. I'm nearly done with the bottle, and although skeptical, must say that my lean muscle mass has increased and I do see an increase in visible definition. I've also noticed an extra boost in my workouts as a result.

This might very well be a placebo effect, and a bottle only lasts for only two weeks (intermediate athletes take 5-10 tablets before and after workout).

I just wanted to share this in case anyone had read the article and had questions.

Trilover,

I read the article too. It got me thinking. I haven't tried the biobuilde, but I am supplementing with essential amino's and feel like they have helped my recovery. Glad to hear your input and success. I'm hopefully going tomorrow to get my body fat % checked. That should help me measure gains a little better in the future.

Just some info to think about...

I recently purchased the bok "Nutrition For Serious Athletes" by Dan Bernardot and it has some interesting thoughts on protein. In it he states that most Athletes consume too much protein from food alone and this can hurt their potential. He does state that endurance athletes typically need more than power athletes. His basic recommendations are for 1.5 to 2.0 grams of protein for every kilogram of body weight.

Something similar, seems a bit cheaper.

Another article by David I. Minkoff, M.D. and Director of Bodyhealth.com Inc., USA can be found at http://www.explorepub.com/articles/summaries/12_5_minkoff.html,but it's not linked to on Bodyhealth's website.

Biobuilde doesn't have any actual clinical test results published anywhere.
For every supplement I take I have at least one or two clinical, proper, studies to back it up. Can anyone find any backing up Dr.Minkoff's claims?

As supplements in general often times recieve skepticism, as they should, on a personal note, if Lance Armstong and the USPS team integrate this product into their training, as do Peter Reid and Lori Bowden; who all have personal nutritionists and physicians on hand, I took the leap of faith. I would have to say that I'm more then satisfied with the results.

I haven't made it all the way through the book yet but it has been very informative so far. I wouldn't get it if you are looking for something that tells you exaclty what to eat. I got it because it gives you the information you need to design your own program. There is alot of technical info on what athletes need to excel in sports. There are a few sample days laid out for different calorie intakes, to get you on the right track. I can give more info once I make it through the book.

Actually, JayC, that's the info I was looking for. I don't want a diet. I want education on nutrition and principles, etc.... Think I'll be getting me a copy.
