I was swimming this morning, the first or second lap, things were going well, better than ever actually.  Try a few timed 50s to see how things were really going.  Reached for the wall, over shot/missed and WHAM!  Head to the wall, OUCH.  That will take the wind out of your sails.  Head OK, pride a little shaken.

Heh, yeah, that'll happen. I used to get it a lot when I'd miscount strokes in backstroke. Welcome to the club!

Yep, my knuckles are still scuffed up from my last pool swim.  It makes OWS seem almost safe.

Heh. Almost the same thing happened to me today.  I'm not fast, but was going hard today and almost broke my fingers when they hit the wall before I expected.

I was swimming 50m < 50s without  a flip turn.  That qualifies as fast for me!

I disagree. Outside of something like a goliath grouper, the dead fish is much less painful.
