Swim
Comments: quick warmup, and off we went. start wasn't as bad as it normally is for me, didn't get as beat up. What would you do differently?: swim more, although swim wasn't the best the strong current against us didn't help. need to see how i can swim in a OWS without currents. Transition 1
Comments: i can't really comment much on my transitions. i tend to have t1 down.... run out from water with cap and goggle, the moment i am out remove goggles and cap toss them next to the bike, helmet, glasses, grab bike. What would you do differently?: not much besides do a flying start on the bike which i am afraid of due to the rear wing and landing on my nuts. Bike
Comments: comfy race pace, i didn't have my HR on me but i know my body at this time i was about 160-165 on the uphills. at about 43 min, when i looked at my bike computer i noticed my body beginning to ask for food. i had nothing. no gels and limited breakfast left me empty. What would you do differently?: nice improvement, legs were feeling sore from the heavy running week, was already about 20+ miles for the week. a taper would have been oh so nice. gels, blocks whatever the hell i should have had something in the bag. /i am a retard Transition 2
Comments: SERIOUSLY WTF....this is the 3rd race i keep loosing my bike place. i can't ever seem to find it. going to make a thread on the topic What would you do differently?: my transitions like t1 is usually dialed in. i jump off the bike once i can find the spot its pretty damn quick, but of-course i couldn't find my place. Run
Comments: run started ok, or so i thought, after i crossed the 1 mile marker i looked at my watch and had a time of 9:03 min. began having some GI issues after mile 2 and everything just went to shit. i tried to speed up and eventhough my breathing was good, my legs just wouldn't move. mile 5 to 6 was terrible, i just wanted to finish. i tend to give it a hard hard sprint in the last .5 mile, had to walk to the finish line. What would you do differently?: i hope that with a taper rather then HIM build week I can do much better next year, I should be hitting 45-48 min on a run like this. it was a disappointment not even come in at 8 min flat. Post race
Warm down: just crashed on the grass, it was the first race where my body began shutting down near end of the race. the moment i hit my house i ate a big sandwich and immediately went to bed. felt about 85% afterwards. What limited your ability to perform faster: need to relax prior to the race and try out nutrition plan that will give me energy. i lost everything i felt like garbage on the run. something i have been putting in more milage into and improving turned completely against me. Woke up at 4:15 and headed to transition got there at 5am. Felt very tired didn't sleep well total 4 hrs. went to bed way too late. didn't feel great, couldn't even eat a banana which is normally my race food, 2 bananas and morning bar. I started the race with no gels and half banana
not much pre-warmup besides hitting the bathroom, before going to the ferry i went 3 times and felt like something wasn't 100%, didn't feel great in the week preceeding the race.
