Subject: Cervelo P2 or Specialized Transition Comp
I have been in the market for a Tri bike and have narrowed down my choices to the Cervelo P2 and the Specialized Transition Comp.  The Cervelo is a bit lighter with Ultegra components where the Specialized is a little heavier with 105 components.  Both bikes are very similar in price.  Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.  If you ride either the Cervelo or the Specialized I would love to hear your thoughts.  Thanks

I bought the P2 earlier this year and immediately loved it! I had been fitted prior and was given a specific geometry so I was confident in my decision. The only drawback of the Cervelo is the stock bars and brakes are cheapos but given the frame and drivetrain it's an awesome bike.

Cervelo beats specialized on both counts. Seems pretty easy choice to me?

This is pure speculation/gross generalization, but I think you get a better "tri fit" at a Cervelo dealer than at a Specialized dealer.  My rationale is that Cervelos are usually sold in tri-specific stores, while the Transition is usually sold in a standard bike shop.  While I think that the Specialized dealers are pros at fitting their bikes, they may not necessarily know the certain nuances of triathlons.

That being said, both bikes are good, but I'd go with the Cervelo.

They have pretty different fits--chances are if one fits you well, the other will b less well. I ride a Transition, and like it--but I have a short torso and really long legs. I found that I couldn't fit well on a cervelo. If I found one that had a short enough top tube, I had to have a crapload of spacers and seat tube.

There is almost no difference between 105 and Ultegra--seriously. Get the bike that fits you.

P2c!!!!    Best money I ever spent.  I road several bikes before making the purchase. Felt,Specialized and Trek.  After riding the P2 my decision was made.  I have the DuraAce on mine.  It is Sweeeeeet.    Good Luck making your decision.

I have a Specialized Transition comp and have been riding it for about 18months now and love it!  I was fitted at a bike shop that sold both and was  told that either bike would fit me.
So what swung me?  Partly because it was new last year and was just a little bit different - a lot of people I know have Cervelos.  But on a more practical level the frame on the specialized transition comp is the same frame as the top of the range S works so in the future if I want to upgrade the components I can have an even sweeter bike.
