You can buy just the Powermeter. . .I have an SRM (just the powermeter) and it paired with my Garmin 705 in about 5 seconds.

They are still more money with the quarq. . .for me, going with an SRM made sense since the problems quarq has with the Specialized chainrings.

For you, I bet Quarq is the way to go. . .

I think I am still SOL. I have an Ultegra Crank and Chain rings. I only saw the durace. Do you think the Durace meter would work with a ultegra?

Do you have more than one bike?  Upgrade crank to something you like and get it on ebay for cheap (especially this time of year).  Then get your Powermeter

I have 2 bikes one with a shimano 105--53/39 and one with shimano ultegra 53/39. I also have an FSA crank 50/34 that I will be using for IM St. George and IM LP so I am gonna swap out before training starts and go with the quarq or SRM. Then either sell the ultegra on ebay and buy a nicer FSA 53/39 chain rings or something like that. Thanks for all the advice.

I have a Specialized Transition Pro with the Quarq, but I had to change out my big ring with a Sram and it works great with my Garmin 705.  I tried the ibike with the Quarq and QUICKLY switched to the 705 and I was paired within seconds.
