aspeelma - 2009-10-27 6:08 AM Ok Ghoulies I've been thinking...

I want to get a new bike. I'm leaning towards a tri bike but I haven't ruled out a roadbike with aerobars, that's what I have now though. So the question for the day is...

What's everyone got and do you love it or hate it and why?

I'm still bike-less, but when I do buy it will most likely be a roadie with clip-ons. I just get the impression that they're a bit more versatile (i.e. I can't afford two bikes) and I'm still not in love with the idea of having my brake levers away from my hands in my "normal" riding position.

deehtz - 2009-10-27 9:47 AM So I have a newbie question...

I have been running 3-4 days a week.  Biking 1-2 a week (though that has dropped to 0-1 lately).  And just lately added swimming once a week.  ST is usually 2 a week.  I have been doing my ST on the scheduled REST day.

The more I look at different plans, the more I think that maybe it really means not to do ST on REST day.  Keep in mind that all of my workouts are at a beginner level.  I just don't want to be shootin' myself in the foot.....so to speak

Does REST day truly mean no real physical activities?

This has always been up for debate.  Some people like absolute rest, others like active rest.  Personally, do whatever works best for you.

I usually will do some form of activity on a rest day.  Sometimes yoga, sometimes strength work, and sometimes an easy ride or walk, just something to get me moving.

iowagander - 2009-10-27 12:12 PM Sheesh... A guy goes to bed, wakes up, cleans up, drives to work, clears his inbox, and you guys are already 5 pages into thread #4. Impressive, Ghoulies! Time to catch up...

Tom - that is how we operate.

BTW - Thought how you got your handle was pretty cool - What part of Iowa do you hail from?

I was in college in Ames at the time, apparently right down the road from Neal. Too bad I wasn't into endurance sports at the time, or we probably would have run into eachother.
