Pre-race routine:

Wake up 0530
Breakfast: PB&J on whole wheat
Medium coffee w/ one cream and one sugar.

Warm down:

walking and stretching.
Drinking plenty of fluids. I even had a beer.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I slowed down to conserve energy and paid the price by losing time. I used muscles I had used before during a long run. During training I never slowed down.

Event comments:

It's a great race. A boston qualifier and plenty of support from the spectators. It's a great way to spend a weekend in Vermont. I'd rather do this ran than the Boston Marathon. I would do the Boston once (if I qualified) but no more than that.

Performance:
Course:	first half of the race was easy hills with a monster hill at mile 15. After that it's mostly flat. The last 4.5 miles are along Lake Champlain. It's a beautiful view but I appreciated the cool breeze even more.
