I did this race last year and may do it again this year. It was fun and there were lots of folks in costume.
The only disappointment I had was that it was not chip-timed.

Do you mean Al Lopez park?  I think we are going to do that one, too.

HTFU and do both. Then you can have an extra helping of turkey. I got my numbers yesterday.

You'll need to be pretty quick to get one of the finishers' medals. Last year 125th place for men in the 5k was 19:52, and 42:15 for the 10k.

Get there early. Parking can be difficult, and with upwards of 5000+ people starting the 5k (and 2500 the 10k), it takes a while for the crowd to thin out; If you're looking for a decent time, you want to get to the front and line up 15-20 minutes before gun time. Definitely not a PR race,.

There's a 5K near the fishhawk area, that'll be my calorie burner for this year.

Nothing fancy.  Also 1 miler kids' race.

No kidding. And that's with them splitting the 5k into 2 different races, competitive and fun run. When I ran it in 2006 it was still a single race mass start of approx 10,000 people. Took 2 minutes to get to the start line, and when I looked back there were more people behind me than in front.
