Nice work Damon. Nothing wrong with focusing on a single sport for a while especially when you have a big ride on the horizon you want to get ready for. Its great to get in with a group for the bike, as is helps alot for those long rides and you can learn alot from more experience riders. However the good thing is if something gets in the way of your bike training you can always "fall back" to running or swimming to keep training the engine. The bike is the longest (in time and distance) leg of most tris so strengthing that area will serve you well whenever you turn your main focus back to tris.

Congrats on the 200 mile week and 60 mile ride.

Keep up the good work.

Andy

thanks Andy

I need to make sure I keep running enough to maintain that level of fitness as well, so will work on balancing both. Grabbed a bargain on a new leather Brooks saddle for the new bike and this morning was the first ride. NOT the horror story many tell about discomfort, but its going to need a few tweaks to the final position to get it properly comfortable. Its a Swift titanium and is a real thing of beauty - a handmade British saddle for a handmade British steel bike, so was the obvious choice really!

I hope everyone is having a good start to April and has some goals set for the month? I'm aiming for a 500 mile riding month as my A goal this month - how about everyone else?

My big goal is to switch to racing mode and knock out a few hard efforts to get the season off to a good start. I have a local 5K on April 10th and it is a course I PRed before and was shooting for sub 21:00. Then the next week I have the Revolutionary Run a fun 5 miler with tons of hills through Valley Forge National Park. Great race and a big challenge with the hills. And possible a tri at the end of the month beofre my first big race of the season the Rev3 Olympic Tri in Knoxville TN. THe racing should keep my milage down a bit this month but I have had 4 great months of cycling this winter and the only real goal is to get used to the new geometery and position of my New Kestrel.

fantastic bike, and you look a little younger than I imagined Andy. Still, as they always say, it gives you something to grow into

Andy:

Sweet ride!  That looks like a blast to ride.  Enjoy.  Your training is keeping you youthful!  Haha.

I didnt realise this was closing, so thought I'd say goodbye everyone and big thanks to Andy for pulling this together. I hope everyone achieves their goals this season and beyond. My favourite quote is perhaps a good way to sign off..."Your past is not your potential" so have fun everyone!
