Subject: Shoe question - speed laces
So, the past several pairs of running shoes I have purchased have been Brooks. First pair fit and felt great, so every time I have replaced them, I just got the new version of the shoe. I have always outfitted them with the elastic stretch cord laces, so I could slip them on and off quickly.

Well, went to buy a new pair in Dec, and decided to try something new - a pair of Saucony's. As I have for the past several years, I outfitted them imediatly with the elastic laces.

My problem is that I cant seem to get the right foot tight enough, it seems loose, and does not seem to be offering enough support. After my last two runs, my right ankle has been sore.

I really dont want to have to go with traditional laces, and other than the sore ankle, I really like the shoes. Anyone have any suggestions. Anyone use any other speed lace system that I should try?

Try out Yankz. I've used them for a couple of years now and they're easy to adjust on the fly as well. Also, they sometimes sell them in 2-packs for the price of 1.

I just started wearing Saucony Progrid Omni 8's eariler this year, and have had Yankz in my running shoes for the past year.  Speed laces are only slighter less cool than lasik eye surgery in my book Laughing
That said, I did have to tweak the tension a little so it felt right...both overall and at different points in the middle eyelets.

I have the opposite issue with my Saucony Rides. They start out feeling fine but after 3-4 miles feel way too tight across the top of my foot. These are the shoes I wear for races and faster training days only. I'm taking the Yankz out and will only use them for races from now on.

I highly recommend giving Xtenex laces a try. They are a bit more initially, but do last and are much more comfortable than the others I have tried.

I use Yankz in my ProGrids, most comfortable set up I've ever run in.

I have used both the Yankz and the Elastic and I prefer the Yanktez because you can adjust them.

x2 for Xtenex laces.  I know Yankz have been around a long time and many folks love 'em, but I hated them.  Xtenex rules - much easier to use and tweak than Yankz, IMO.
