Subject: RE: Injured shoulder exercises First off, it is probably prudent to visit with a doctor. When I injured my shoulders, here are the exercises I was given: Overhead shoulder press with dumbells. This one can be done with rubber bands (the big physical therapy kind, btw :- ) ), a dumbbell while laying on your side, or a cable machine at the gym. I use the cable machine at the gym. You are after reps, not effort. Keep the weight low!! Bend your arm at the elbow. The cable should be at the same height as your elbow. Pull the cable across your body. Do 3 sets of 10. Alternate with your arm bent at the elbow, but hand is pointing away from your torso. You are pulling the cable towards your center. I hope this makes sense. Another exercise: grip a towel and drop it down your back. Grab the bottom of the towel with your other hand. Alternate pulling down and pulling up. And the last one: sit in a chair. Grab the seat of the chair. Lean away from that hand. Do a couple sets of 10 reps. If you are resistant to go to the doctor, please pay attention to this: If it hurts during the rep, but pain goes away when you stop, you are PROBABLY OK. If it continues to hurt even when you stop, see a doctor. Good luck with a speedy recovery. |
