Anyone relatively new in Houston want to get together for a training ride or run?

Pick a discipline and a date!
I will be out part of this weekend on the Tour of Italy (Texas), but would be up for anything on the weekends, maybe in the mornings - depends on what day and where...

My typical week goes:

Mon: Run (AM or PM) - 249 Y
Tues: Spin (AM) - Downtown / Swim (PM) - NW Inner Loop
Wed: Rest
Thur: Spin (AM) - Downtown / Swim (PM) - NW Inner Loop
Fri: Long Run (AM or PM) - Home or 249 Y
Sat: Long Ride Or Long Swim OR Brick
Sun: Weights - Run

Reason #131 for Citywide YMCA - There's probably one of my gyms near you :D

Long rides are easy from/around the Woodlands, lots of routes. My schedule is not open until 25 June, but after that I am willing to discuss weekend options, definitely. Weekdays are iffy depending on work.

Typically, I go there and run with a buddy of mine. He's a nursing an injury now, so I haven't been in a while. PM me when you'd like to meet up.
FAIR WARNING - I AM A SLOW BEAST
My race pace is 12 min/mile - if you want to jog together - you'll likely be walking
If you want me to chase you and motivate you when you slow down - I can do that!

Well I think y'all have seen the other thread, but just in case: a few of us are meeting at 5:30p tonight at Memorial Park Loop. Look for Gomez - big bald dude, red shirt - near the benches by the pro shop at 5:30p.

And for the future: YES to open water swimming at Twin Lakes! Wow. yes yes yes.

And: I'm planning a couple of early-Saturday-morning rides in the HILL COUNTRY to get practice on, well, HILLS. The plan will be drive up Friday night then get up and ride early, before the heat, on Saturday.

First Hill Country trip will be the Breucher-to-Bastrop state park ride, which is a beautiful scenic 12-mile road of rolling hills through the woods. That's 24 miles round trip. I plan to camp in Breucher State Park the night before - they have great camping, reasonably priced. Also will bring a non-triathlete friend or two, so there's a way to get your S.O. or best friend involved with your crazy hobby (assuming s/he likes to camp). The date for the Breucher trip is TENTATIVELY July 8-9. If you guys schedule Twin Lakes for that weekend I can be flexible on Breucher. More details to follow...

Happy Tri'ing Houston!

Two Heads-Ups:

1) A friend and I will take another FRIDAY night jog around the Loop at Memorial tomorrow 7/1, but at 6:30PM instead of earlier (slighlty less hot out). PM me if you'd like to meet up. My pace is around 12mms.

2) Will post details re the first Beginner's Hill Country ride - July 9 Beucher-to-Bastrop - in the "Triathlon Talk" form later this weekend. I want to open it up to all Texas BT'ers and friends/SO's who might enjoy the camping, the scenic trail, the training, and the camraderie. I will be a newbie on clipless pedals by then (YAY!), so that may add excitement and humor.

end of annoucments. So... did y'all get together for that swim on Wednesday? How did it go?

Happy tri'ing!

Sorry CitySky - can't make it that late tomorrow... but will be finishing up as you begin! Say hi!
No word yet on OW Swim Practice - I'll try to organize something after the holiday.

Thanks, Danintx.

Yes, that was me!

I am very interested in finding some training partners. I live inside the loop, but am more than willing to travel out for long runs and rides.

Thanks again.
