Well, I've posted on the IMCDA forum but I haven't introduced myself here. 43 y/o male fm Central FL-New Smyrna Beach, Firefighter and Master Sgt. in the Air Force Reserves. I've competed in mostly in MTB races starting back in the late 80's. Done some 24hr races and 12/8/6 hr. I've only done 2 Tri's both sprints-won AG in one and 2nd in the other. I'm doing my first mary this weekend, I know i can complete it , the question is what will be my time? I played hockey a few years back and still yearn to lace up sometimes when i take my daughter skating. My gym workouts are with Coreperformance. Been following that for about 4 yrs now. Married 23 yrs, 2 daughters-both teens so I have plenty of time to train. I'm signed up for the Melbourne Music Marathon, St. Anthony's and IMCDA right now. I was going to do the Nations Tri but couldn't get the time off. I don't really follow any plans right now but am close to signing up here or endurance nation. I generally train with my buddy who has qualed for Kona twice and let's me shadow him. So, hello.
There are a bunch of tri's in Daytona Beach that are well run, if you haven't you should check them out (former Navy man runs them). My in-laws live in Ponce Inlet and I do the one in August every year while I'm there.
Sounds like you have a good base, and with time to train you'll do well. Pick a plan and stick with it.
