First year for for me.  The first one or two will be in May.  There are two I would like to do and they are back to back.  Any downside to this?  I'll be MOP if nothing unexpected happens.

what is your background?  it took me almost a week for me to recover from my first sprint, but i only trained about 8 weeks for it and before that barely ever SBRed...but if you have lots of experience with endurance sports you might be fine.

Background:

2nd year of endurance sports.  First year was a 1/2 mary in April then learning to swim took me past the end of triathlon season or I would have done a latr sprint last year.  Been getting 3-6 workouts in per week the last couple of months.

Recovery time will be longer for me since I'm in my fourties.  Maybe I should volunteer at the first one and raace the second one.

Just how back to back are these races?  One Saturday and the other Sunday or a week apart?  I think that would make a difference.  And age is only a number.  If they are a week apart then go easy the first to save some gas for the second.  I did my first sprint tri last October and was fine after.  It is still a personal call.

One week a part.  I'll also be around MOP.  I haven't developed a race speed and training speed yet.  I'm working on endurance now.  Maybe speed next year.

I don't have much tri experience since I have only done one sprint but I needed no recovery time after it.  It was my first one and I gave it all I had and was still able to hit the gym the next day without any changes.

Last year I did my first 2 sprints 1 week apart. I did the second because the first one got changed to a duathlon due to weather (that made it much harder for me to run twice than to swim) and I really wanted to complete a triathlon so I signed up for a 2nd one. Unless the courses are really difficult if you are in good shape you should be fine.

2 sprints a week apart should be fine.  It's only a 1-2 hour event and your training sessions might be longer.  Yes, intensity should be harder but you won't need the full week to recover.  Just make sure to take a recovery drink right away, walk it off, do a proper cool/down stretch, and light workouts for the day or two after.  You should sail right through to the next race.  Good luck!

I think you'll be fine.  If your still sore or gased a week later just take it easy and enjoy the 2nd race from the back of the pack.
