Pre-race routine:

Not much really. Had a power bar at 7am and then a Gu about 15 min before the start. Mixed with some coffee and I was ready to go.
Event warmup:

We did about a 14 minute warm up. It was needed. The wind was really making me cold and my legs felt stiff because of it. We left about 10 minutes to get up front at the start, and I cooled back down quickly.
Run
  • 37m 50s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 06m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

I was very steady on this run. I start off strong and kept my pace around 6:05/mi for the first half and then sped it up a little for the second half. I had no problem holding that pace, but I didn't feel like I had any more speed.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Go easier so I'd be fresher for the next day's race.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around, jogged to the car and that's about it.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Top end speed. I have the endurance to push, but I just don't have the speed that the faster guys have.

Event comments:

Really well organized and right on time. Course was well marked and blocked off.

Thanks Jeff!  It was a great race.  I didn't realize there would be 13000+ people out there running, so it was a good experience.  I ended up in the top 50 overall, so no podium, but I'm still proud!

I'm clearly spending too much time in the pool and not enough time running!

You should be proud!

I raced it ... was down at Luke's Locker on Thursday to get a new pair of shoes and signed up with a buddy.  Heck, if I would have known you were there we could have started together and I could have kept up for like 8 or 9 steps, maybe Wink
