Hi everyone. I'm looking for lakes in the Chicagoland area that are open to swimming (preferably with a life guard). I need to get some practice in for OW swims, other than lake Michigan (when it's officially open) I don't know where else to go. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Angie

What area of Chicago are you looking for? There are lakes that have lifeguards in the northern burbs in the lake county forest preserve system.

the North to Northwest burbs are good. I'm on the northwest side of the city with easy access to 90/94. Which forest preserves offer the gaurded swimming? Thanks!

Ohio St. beach is my stomping ground for lake swims. If you can swim there you can swim anywhere. It makes nice flat lake swims a lot easier. It also prepares you for bigger races in bigger bodies of water.
