hey yall   I've been running for about a year but didn't consider myself a "real" runner until i completed my first half marathon.  I set time goals for myself, but am much better at improving on distance rather than speed.

I'll be racing in my first triathlon on Memorial day, and I'm a little intimidated.  Swimming is my weakest area, but I'm working on it and getting better every week.  The race is a short one 350 m in the pool, 10 miles on the bike and 2.6 running.

Welcome to BT!  I think that a lot of people come here from a running background (I did) although there are quite a lot of bicyclists too.  And that odd smattering of former college swimmers who talk about swim workouts longer than your runs.

Start here for swimming:  http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=117554&start=1, BigFuzzyDog's Ten Points to Swimming.  Just keep swimming.  Get in the pool 3 - 4 times a week and it will come around.

Good luck.
Bruce.

Welcome to BT and tri! Great username too.

Lots of great swim advice around these parts and that link above is very good.

You might want to join one of the mentor groups--they're specifically for people new to tri and the support and inspiration is phenomenal.
