Subject: RE: Need a GPS watch There's a few options for GPS watches out there, but the best all around deal and simplest to use is the 305. These days it's on Amazon and similiar for about $150 (US ). Some of the other options are the FR110 - which is newer and out there for $200, but it's featureset is greatly reduced compared to the 305, and I fear over time you'll wish you had the 305. The 405 is an option, but it's aimed primarily at the running crowd - and some folks find the touch bezel frustrating. The 310XT is the latest option, which is the next version of the 305. That has all the bells and whistles of the 305, plus a few extra features (additional waterproofing, Power meter support, 20hr battery instead of 10hr ). I'm sure you've seen my reviews - which might help you decide. But here's four relevent ones, from oldest (3yrs ) to youngest (1month ): Forerunner 305Forerunner 405 Foreunner 310XT Forerunner 110You can look at the FR205, but that's basically just a 305 with a slightly modified featureset. Like others have said, you can't go wrong with the 305. Other options outside of Garmin are the Suunto's and the new Timex Global trainer. I'm not super-familiar with the Suunto, and the Global Trainer isn't quite out yet. I have a test unit in theory coming to be shortly on that one, but the little Fedex truck hasn't arrived yet... Good luck! |
