Total Time = 1h 19m 31s
Overall Rank = 99/295
Age Group = M 25-29
Age Group Rank = 12/25
Pre-race routine:

Ate a PB&J sandwich and a banana. Did some stretching prior to leaving for Las Colinas.
Event warmup:

Waited around for almost an hour since the Olympic waves went first. Saw some of the elite guys swim and they were really fast!!
Swim
  • 11m 57s
  • 547 yards
  • 02m 11s / 100 yards
Comments:

I started off at the front of the wave. There was a lot of jostling and one of the guys kept on tapping my feet till the first turnaround. After that it smoothed out a little and I caught some of the slower women that had started in the prior waves. I can't explain why my time was so slow since I was expecting to be under 10 minutes. The only explanation I could think of was that I probably didn't take the most direct line between buoys.
What would you do differently?:

Sight more often and draft better.
Transition 1
  • 01m 13s
Comments:

Another fast transition. It's good to gain free time in transition. Still could take off 20 more seconds.
Bike
  • 34m 44s
  • 12.4 miles
  • 21.42 mile/hr
Comments:

I rode this course hard. Balls to the walls, my run sucks anyways so I was determined to post a good bike split. I was proud of this split and felt I could have given it some more. Fastest split ever !!
What would you do differently?:

Attack the hills!!
Transition 2
  • 01m 27s
Comments:

Slightly slow transition. I had some trouble getting my shoes on and also ran past my rack.
Run
  • 30m 8s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

My worst run ever. I felt so good coming of the bike and ran the first mile in 8 minutes. Then the sun came out and the wheels fell of my run. My body started to overheat and my only motivation was to rush to the finish line to get out of the heat. I stopped twice to walk a little bit, I knew the run was going to be bad but I had no idea it was going to be this bad. Five guys from my AG passed me. I tried to hang with them but they were way too fast for my legs. I was also slightly complacent since I had already placed in my AG at the last triathlon and didn't have the hunger for this race.
What would you do differently?:

Lost 10 lbs, losing the weight will definitely help in run endeavors.
Post race
Warm down:

Found some shade, tried to get some fluids in.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I was off by 2 minutes on the swim and 7 minutes on the run. I will just continue with my run training to get myself into better shape.
