Swim
Comments: After a 4 hour wait, they let our wave in and with in 30 seconds we're racing. Really nice of them to give us time to get loose. The abrupt start through me off, because I was trying to pee. Then the scramble for position got me kicked in the face and I lost my googles. Had to stop to fix that. I also had trouble sighting for the first 500 and probalby swam a little off course. After that I felt realy good, until I exited the water and looked at my watch. I was shoked by the time, but felt better after the race to hear everyone, incuding the best swimmers were much slower. The current was not that bad, and I'm convinced the course was too long. What would you do differently?: I need to get better in the water. The 4 hour wait was out of my control. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: I heard some clicking in the first 1/4 mile and realized my magnet was rubbing, so I had to get off the bike to adjust that. Then I realized that my readjustment caused the cadence sesor to rub, so I had to unclip and push it in on the move. Once I got settled in I felt pretty good. The wind on the front half of the course suprised me, but I average 24mph for the first 30 miles. Unfortunately, I just could not keep the pace. I was not a big fan of the new TYR tri shorts. There definately is notenough padding, and I was very uncomfortable in the saddle. All I needed and wanted at the last Aid Station was water, but of course they didn't have any, and I did not want a gatorade to go along with the EFS, so I ran out of fluid with 8 miles to go, and just started to fade. Experienced some cramping in the legs and once I got into town and had to dodge riders, runners, and cars, I sat up and cruised in. What would you do differently?: Train more: longer rides in hot weather. Transition 2
Run
Post race
Warm down: Sat in water and drank a lot. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training, heat, hydration, technical mistakes every where. Last updated: 2010-01-16 12:00 AM

Had 4 hours before my wave, so I changed my hydration set up. Once we found out the water temp would not allow wet suits, I decided to take a dip in the new FTC jersey. Then we watched the pros go off. I still had 2 hours to race and could not go back to transition, so I sat in the shade and tried to mentally prepare for the race.
