Comments: Huge markers. First time racing without a wetsuit. A little nervous, but turned out ok. Fortunately I was on second wave (just behind elite athletes), so I didn't encounter much traffic. Start was smooth. Transition 1
Comments: Time feels long since no wetsuit, but it was quite a hike to and out of transition. I thought everything went fine. No problems with anything. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: Made real effort not to push too hard to save legs for run (learned the hard way during prior tri). Also aggressively hydrated. I think it worked out fine. Transition 2
Run
Comments: This is starting to look like my weakness. I always thought my bike was my slowest performance, but running is taking first place. Only a few people passed me on bike (again the real nice tri bikes), and almost everyone younger than me, but the run is a different story. Multiple people passed me (which I expected), but seeing their pace is kind of demoralizing. It appears unattainable. By the time we were running, temps in the 80s. What would you do differently?: Need to train more Post race
Warm down: Water, sport drink, massage. What limited your ability to perform faster: More training needed. Can't wait! Event comments: Extremely impressed with this event. Only glitch was a late start (las minute road issues?), but overall superbly run. It didn't feel like there were 2500 plus participants. You cannot beat the venue. Courses were super entertaining. Had to wake up really early. Only about 5 hours of sleep. Coffee, cereal and packed the car. Drive and parking was event free. Having gone to transition the day before was really helpful, because being oriented was a plus. Banana and GU 30 min before time to start.
My HRM died just before starting. I think I ran out of battery.
Forced warmup. Forgot my cycle computer in car (parked about 2/3 mile away) and transition area was closing at 5:15, so I had to jog both ways. Warm enough that I broke into a sweat.
