jenn1212 - 2011-06-07 12:56 PM How is everyone's recovery? I feel good, but still no 'pep'...no speed, certainly not as strong as the month before IM. This being my first IM, I have no idea how I personally will fully recover -- but wondering how is everyone else doing?

i ran a 10k pr on saturday (a little foggy from the night before too!).  got an olympic this weekend.  however, unlike many of you, i really didn't have much to recover from other than some ant bites.  ha.

I just signed up for IM Mont-Tremblant but will be volunteering for IMTX in '12.

well I sign on for the IMNYC and will pass on IMTX next year - great place The Woodland - maybe in '13

IM Texas apparel. I missed 1st opportunity to purchase apparel at Expo during registration - finish first then buy thinkin. After finish on Sunday line was very long and not very much left. Interested in bike jersey and/or tri top. The IM store has not posted anything. Am I SOL?

They will put it up on the store, it just takes a loooooong time.  They just got the St. George stuff up recently.  Give it a couple weeks.

the stuff in the StG store looks like leftovers... for example womens tri top size XL only.  the jacket only has large for sale.  no bike jerseys, mens tri tops etc...  and its all marked down.

i asked on thursday afternoon after most of the stuff was gone if they were getting more in or putting more online later.  was told no by more than one person.

edit.. i hope i'm wrong as i would like a jersey...

I did hear that a lot of locals were very upset about how inconvenient the race was to their weekend...they had a town meeting and I'm curious to hear what happened. I guess they will be super excited about the marathon in March, lol. I signed up for that, should be fun to run a marathon in my hometown!

I went to the townhall. It was FULL of IM supporters (people were lined up out into the hallway). Not a single word against it from the crowds or the board. TJ started it off and did a great job. There was a good summary about the meeting in the Villager maybe last week? An older woman, non-IM competitor closed out the comments with some very funny yet snide remarks to the haters. Then the board shared their support and experiences with the event. It was great!

I haven't figured out what my tattoo is going to look like, but I did write a blog that tells how I became an Ironman in Texas.  Enjoy!  And feel free to skip down to the race day chapter if you are short on time.

Couldn't help myself.  Being from Texas I felt it was the best combo to represent who I am!

I want to steal it from you, but don't want two people in Tyler to have the same one.  haha

courtney_leone - 2011-06-16 3:32 PM I've more or less read most of this thread and I'm 99% sure I'm going to sign up in 2013. It sounds awesome, the swim scares me (I'm a runner, NOT a swimmer) but I'm already excited. If you're wondering why I'm waiting until 2013...I'm scared, it's prob full, I need to save $$$ and I need a better bike I did hear that a lot of locals were very upset about how inconvenient the race was to their weekend...they had a town meeting and I'm curious to hear what happened. I guess they will be super excited about the marathon in March, lol. I signed up for that, should be fun to run a marathon in my hometown!

Courtney, it looks like registration is still open! I have not raced in over 2 years...if I can do it, you can do it! Just bite the bullet and register, all the cool kids are doing it!

That tat is awesome. I commented on it before, but it is one of the best I have seen in my opinion. I got the standard m-dot, but would had to copy you on this one if I knew ahead of time!I am just waiting for mines to turn back to red from this hot pink, before posting. It is nothing fancy though. I just hope it really goes back to red.Double post, dropped the quote.

I probably won't get my IMTX tattoo until the fall - don't want to spend 2 weeks out of the pool while it heals.  What I should have done was get it right after the race like all of you smart people.

So, before the race, I was thinking of doing the M-Dot with a star around it, representing TX, but not being !!!TEXAS!!!.  Then the finisher medal had a sheriff type star on it, so I came up with this.  Design still isn't finalized (I'm NOT an artist) but it will be ~3x3 inches and on my left shoulder.

Did anyone watch the IM TX television coverage this past Friday on NBC Universal Sports (it came on at 4:00PM CDT)?  That channel is not offered in Louisiana, but I sure would like to see it.  No one happened to record it, did they?
