Today's 1.0m/27m/5.0m triathlon got turned into a rainy 2.7/27/5.0 run-bike-run. 377 finishers. Anybody else race it? I liked my results , but especially liked my transition times ....

I did, i was too slow on the bike and had a chain pop, but my run times were sweet (except i cramped at the end).  BOY DID IT POUR.

I raced it. It was going to be my first triathlon but instead it became my first duathlon. I understood.

I was happy with my results since it was my first foray into this sport. I finished in 2h 31m. I was in the clydesdale group (212 lbs) but still finsihed middel of the pack. The rain, mud and blood reminded me of my rugby days! It was awesome. Saw some folks bent up from spills on their bikes.

I looked around for BT gear but didnt see any. Sorry I missed you guys.

Props on the first race. This was a bomber for a first race. ... you couldn't find a little chip-shot sprint for first race?! (Like I did...)

I went 2h:26 ... My training buddy Greg won Clydes at about 2h:16  .... on the drive over he was telling me that last September he weighed 245 pounds ... now he has to beef up and hydrate the week before a race to get back over 200! Props to both you guys.

Yeah the weather was something. Neil made a good call to canx the swim. Visibility on the water was what? 200 yards? And you've gotta consider it could have gotten worse. I heard there were come bumps and scrapes on the bike, and one ambulance ride, but nothing too serious. Hope so, anyway.

Thanks for the props. I really enjoyed it. Everyone was friendly and willing to provide tips etc. I guess being naive about the length of the various races helped me in that I didn't really know the difference between a sprint and oly since I hadn't done one so I figured I might as well go for the oly.

I was in the same boat as your buddy. I was pushing 240 lbs last year. I played rugby for over 14 years and would just lift. I typically played at 225 maybe 230. I stopped playing a few years ago and quickly went up to 240 lbs. Even at 6'1", 240 lbs is a lot of weight to carry. I am now down to 200 - 205 well... putting aside the meager 8 lbs I gained while on vacation/ tapering last week! I haven't broken the "double deuce" (200 lbs) yet.
