Pre-race routine:

Wondering if the race would be delayed due to weather. Small breakfast (peanut butter toast). Get the kids up and over to Mom's

Comments:

It's so hard to get a good pace going for the first 1-2 miles since the course is so crowded. I wish that people who intend to walk up Brady St. would move to the back or all the way to the right or something. After the first couple of miles, I was able to get a good pace going and tried to make up some time. The Kirkwood hill on the way back is tough.
What would you do differently?:

Get there earlier to get to the front of the starting area.

Popsicles, Chips, Hostess products.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just the crowd, but the crowd also makes the race fun. So, it's a catch 22.

Event comments:

The Bix is a great race. Lots of spectators, lots of runners. Challenging course. Great post-race party, even in the rain.

Course: Very hilly. The quarter mile is straight up Brady St. On top of that it's wall to wall people. This year seemed even more congested than previous years. It wasn't until about mile four that the crowd thinned.
