2nd sprint - 2nd post.  I am a lurker.  Mostly out of shyness as there are some really talented athletes that post and what do I have to offer?  So I lurk and learn.  Hey Gearboy!  Not sure if you spearfish or not, but check out the haul.

Not yet - I just take pictures.  Is that a flounder??? It's huge!

ETA- are you going to meet up with us today or tomorrow?  Maybe I'll see if mrs gearboy will be willing to sit with a "Go BT" sign for support and a single meet-up spot post-race.

So, I'm going to go at 1:30 and ride the course. I'm sticking around for the talk and the meet up after. O don't have anyone watching so a sign from mrs gearboy would be great! I'll be wearing ripped up shorts over biking shorts and a star wars t shirt today. I drive a green subaru (old model).

I was there for a bit after Dale talked, but didn't see anyone...I didn't hang around for too long, though and did peak back when walking to look at the swim.  Good luck to all tomorrow!  And, good night!

Yes it was a flounder.  11.5 lbs.  Speared in 85' of water about 6 mi outside of little egg inlet.

Back on topic - So what is the little number for?  My helmet I presume?  There's no instructions in the packet and I don't feel like thumbing through the 80 page athletes "note".  Plus the weber is fired up and chicken and potatoes are on.

Thanks.

PR for the swim, horrible bike, typical run.  Felt like I could never catch my breath after the swim.  But over all very satisfied with my 2nd sprint.

Leg cramps all the way from swimming start to the finish line. Just happy to have completed the race. I am not sure I want to see my time. But I have to admit - I liked the race. Organization, location, everything. Looking forward to doing it next year. Hopefully, better prepared.

I got my overall prediction for the time right.  Of course, that was because I was ahead 9 minutes in the swim, then another 5 on the bike.  Lost it all on the run.  But I realized it was my first oly in 16 years!

I thought the runnning course was supposed to be flat. Those hills took me complete by surptise.

Seriously.  Those were not hills.  I remember last year walking the course with mrs gearboy, pointing out where I thought I might end up walking, and she laughed at me.  Now, for hills, I totally don't remember that hill on the left hand side of the bike course.  I'm sure you know which one I mean.  The one that sits and mocks you when you see it coming.

Hills!!! I insist! I hate being defeated by bumps. Hills are a different story.
As for the real hill - do you mean the one right after the turn-around?

I loved the hills on the bike (well, going down them...I think that was the only time I passed anyone...).  Going up them was hard!  They were OK on the run.  I didn't like the uphill swim, though...

I did love this race!  They gave away 5 wetsuits to people during the awards which was real cool.  Plus some Road ID certificates.  I thought they did a great job!

No, though that was fun.  No, I mean the one about a mile or so before the second turn around. Even driving it looked impressive (at least that's what mrs gearboy said - though she might have been responding to how beat up I looked overall!)

How was everybody's race???

As for me... pretty much as expected -

Solid, but slow swim, mediocre bike, and decent (for me) run. I've been focused on run training lately, and bike and swim training have suffered. Funny how that works.....

Yes- I got a similar reading from the bike and the garmin.  I think when they shortened the turn arounds from last year, they over-shortended it.

I came up with 23 miles...  So yea I guess it was short.

I did as expeced.  Came in at 2:46:36 so I am pleased with that effort.

I wasnt fast, but I wasnt over-slow either.

margarita --did you happen to have your hair in braids?
I did well -I didn't set any expectations as it was just my second and I hate hills!  Calves cramped at the end of bike so I couldn't run as much as I wanted to but I've forgiven myself.  I checked out the bike entrance on Sat but didn't see anyone standing around.  I think next year we should try writing BT on our calves --I noticed a bunch of calves passing me while I was walking ;(   I thought Dale set everything up well and the volunteers were especially nice and helpful.  The zipper on my sweatshirt doesn't want to work but oh well.

I finished in 2:58 and change as a BOP'er which is what I expected!  My left knee held up beautifully during the run- but my left knee was the sore one this time (from about 1.5 miles till the end).
