Total Time = 1h 04m 40s
Overall Rank = 113/391
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 18/22
Pre-race routine:

Standard, woke up too early and had a small bowl of oatmeal and a protein shake, continued to hydrate on my 1.5 hour drive from Lithia to Tarpon Springs FL. got there way to early. When the they were ready I picked up my chip and set up my transition area.
Event warmup:

Rode my bike in an easy gear at a high cadence to the end of the causeway and back (about 1.5 - 2 miles, than did a5 minute easy jog concentrating on turn over. 20 minutes before start time I did an easy swim out to the 1st turn buoy and back.
Swim
  • 06m 5s
  • 400 yards
  • 01m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

I think the swim was short, at the Fort Desoto Tri I swam the same distance in 9:30 I did this on 6:05. While I do think that I was faster I do not think I improved by 3 min and 25 seconds. I think the course was about 100 Yards short. Also the tide was out so you could touch bottom the entire swim and about 25 yards from the shore the water was about 2.5 feet deep.
What would you do differently?:

Hard to tell because I think the course was short, but I can always try to swim harder
Transition 1
  • 00m 52s
Comments:

Faster than average transition, I did slam a power Jell at the transition point, I need to do that on the run.
What would you do differently?:

Take in nutrition while I am moving.
Bike
  • 28m 41s
  • 10.5 miles
  • 21.96 mile/hr
Comments:

I improved my bike by over a mile an hour so I am happy. My bike computer had the route almost spot on at 10.5 miles.
What would you do differently?:

I need to drink more on the bike. With this course I could have used my road bike with clip on bars, but I just got a new tri bike so i was obligated to ride it. I think that is a federal law.
Transition 2
  • 01m 10s
Comments:

A bit slow because I had to drink, I need to start doing that on the bike but I hate to break my rhythm.
What would you do differently?:

Hydrate during the bike so I don't have to in transition.
Run
  • 27m 52s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

Slower than I would have liked, but over all not to unhappy.
What would you do differently?:

I need to do more brick work and get my legs used to running after the bike.
Post race
Warm down:

Slow trot around the parking lot, and a walk to the beach and back. Some dynamic/ and static stretching especially targeting my calves.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My run was not that great, but I think a lot of that was due to lack of hydration.

Event comments:

A good race, with the exception of the short swim, but that affected everyone equally. This is a good race to do just for fun (yeah like I compete), and I will do it next year if I a am not deployed.
