I did it in '08 and it was.  Didn't have one at the time and was plenty warm but missed a great opportunity for a faster swim....

Lonestar vs. Austin, I missed that too.  I was wondering about strippers (the wetsuit kind) at Austin/LONGHORN.

There were strippers last year and they were fast and organized when I went through and I was in the last wave.

The Longhorn Austin 70.3 was wetsuit legal last year (2009) but not the year before (2008.) Last year the temp was just under the limit, so while I was glad I had my wetsuit for buoyancy, I would have liked it just a little cooler for performance.

It all depends on how much rain we get, and more importantly, how cool the weather is in the next 3 weeks. Decker Lake is also used as the cooling water for the Decker Creek Power Plant. In the summer time, when electricity usage is max, the lake can actually get really warm. Like, in the 90's.

With as much rain as we've had recently, and if the air temps stay in the 80's till then, the chances are really good that the race will be wetsuit legal.

Cool

In 2008, the race was 3 weeks earlier in the year.  That's probably the main reason it was wetsuit legal last year.  But now with the changes in the WTC wetsuit cutoffs, it may be close.

Here are new rules:

Wetsuits may be worn in water temperatures up to and including 24.5 degrees Celsius/76.1 degrees Fahrenheit. Athletes who choose to wear a wetsuit in water temperatures exceeding 24.5 degrees C /76.1 degrees F will not be eligible for awards, including World Championship slots. Wetsuits will be prohibited in water temperatures greater than 28.8 degrees C/84 degrees F.

So if I read this right, I can still wear my wetsuit betweem 76.1 and 84 degrees but I just lose any eligibility for awards and WC slots?  With a projected time of 5:45:00 I don't think it matters does it?  Do I still count as a finisher?
