I have been trying to find an OLY somewhere in Indiana.  Anyone know of a really well ran one in 2011?  Thanks in advance.

If you don't mind swimming the canal downtown and a rough bike course, the Tri Indy event was a good one. I thought well organized and a good showing.
If you don't mind a small road trip, Terre Haute was a good one as well at Hawthorn Lake.

I'm not sure what part of Indiana you're in, but besides the ones mentioned above, there's a couple September ones in the Northeast. One on Sunday, Sept. 11 at Chain O Lakes State Park called the S.W.A.T. Tri. Their website hasn't been updated yet (http://www.swattri.com/Welcome.html), but I know they're having it again. Last year was the first year for it and I enjoyed it a lot. It's the collegiate championship so the big schools in our area (Purdue, Ohio State, Michigan) were represented and that was fun. The other one is on Sept. 25 at Potato Creek State Park and is called Tri the Creek (http://www.3disciplines.com/). This one also was a first year tri in 2010 but 3D puts on good events. Hope you can find something without having to travel too far.

+1 on TriIndy.  I've done it past 2 years.  It's very well-run in pretty unique urban setting.  The canal swim is a blast with spectators walking along side you stroke along.  The bike is just OK, but the run along the White River promenade & IUPUI campus is flat, fast, & fun.

x2 on Tri-Indy.  I did it last year and my wife has requested I do it again this year.  The course if very spectator friendly.  My family followed me for entie swim, saw me on the bike 2 times and 3 times on the run.  A lot of people talked about the canal swim being gross but I didn't think it was any different from swimming in a lake.

I may give the SWAT Tri a look for myself.  The only bad part for me would be that I am looking at making the Air Force Marathon my A race for this year and it falls on Sept. 17 whicj should be about 1 week after the SWAT race.  I may do the sprint if I do it at all.

There is an Olympic distance (plus others) every month from May - October in Muncie.  Check out http://www.munciemultisport.com/ for the schedule.  They are also hosting an IM 70.3 in Muncie.

I did not do any of the Munice events last year, but I plan to do a few this year.

Leon's is very well organized. It came back last year after 15 years with a small group that is sure to grow. Leon's Triathlon was the originator of the amateur Triathlon championship in the early 90's.

X4 on Tri Indy.  The 2010 race was my first Oly.  My only complaint was the bike course being a little rough.  Well... there was also the whole white tri-tank turning green in the canal problem- but, I can live with that. Smile

HoosierMan Tri in Bloomington, June 5th is really fun if you like hills and a little trail running. They just started in 2009. I have completed the sprint each year. This year I am going for the Olympic. They had some problems last year, with the swim length. As I believe a couple of bouys were moved or destroyed by a storm the night before. All in all, It has been a lot of fun.
