I live here in Cairns - was on the waitlist for the half and have managed to get in, my husband is doing the ironman.  The ride to Port Douglas will be special especially as the road is closed.  You will have a great week.

I will be surprised if it is a wetsuit swim.. it just never gets cold up here.

Last year I didn't swim all year with a wet suit the water was too warm, and so was the weather temperature.  The year before I swam in wetsuit nearly all the time, so you just don't know what the weather is going to do.  We still have extremely hot weather in Cairns and its only 2 months away, I don't think it will be wetsuit.  In winter I swim at Trinity Beach, it will be interesting at Yorkeys as you have to go around a point which is rocks, I hope they have the course well away from these.
