Subject: TubeLESS race tires
Good afternoon all,

I have matched aluminium rim Hed 3 clinchers for which I require new tires. I normally use Michelin.

But I've been pondering using tubeless tires

My reason is the Hed 3's would seem particularly well suited to these and I am "assuming" that there is a weight/ride quality benefit.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a 700x23 tire(s) or reason not to use - too complicated for race day?

Failing this, as mentioned I've been using Michelin Pro Race, what is the general consensus (should 1 exist) for the current clincher race tire of choice.

Thanks in advance

Unfortunately it's not that simple... the rim needs to be designed to function with tubeless tires, and unless HED has very recently changed, I don't think the HED3 is compatible. To my knowledge, Fulcrum, Campagnolo and Shimano all has wheels designed for tubeless.

Go to stans no tubes and they sell hutchinsons that are tubeless ready and should work on your H3. I would ask them.
I have used this setup on a set of velomax wheels with said tires for a year and a half and have been very happy with them. No flats, or any problems and at 220 I can run 90 psi in my tires and the ride is noticeably better. If you don't like it just put tubes in and use the tires that way. John.

I have to agree I have been running stans tubeless on my SS MTB, my SuperX Cross bike and now my SuperSix Road bike.  Knock on wood but I have a ton of miles logged and not one flat.  I am diligent about making sure I have gooo in the tires but the advantages are great.  I know that there are kits that allow non tubeless wheel to be run tubeless; which you will have to check out; but if it works I would totally give it a shot!!  I am sold 100%.
