Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 6:15am and made my steel cut oats...yum! Got my brother's and my stuff ready to go.
Event warmup:

10min warm up and then some stretching.
Run

Comments:

This was a PR for me by 15sec...not including my high school years of course! It was a fun run especially since some of them members from my fitness group I put together did their first 5k and it was nice watching them finish.
What would you do differently?:

I would say to push harder but thinking back to the moment I'm not sure if I could have. I know I had a lot left aerobically but my legs were pretty shot.
Post race
Warm down:

Just walking around trying to find a good spot to watch my brother and my friends finish and then to get my son to the kids dash so he can have his fun too!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm not training specifically for a 5k and I do no speedwork other than a few strides during my runs.

Event comments:

This is a really nice 5k/8k race. Lots of people wearing green and dressing up in costumes made it fun. There is also a kids dash and then free beer!

That's awesome...you beat me! I think that's pretty cool that we went 4th and 5th in our AG. Dude, we have to get on the podium somehow next year. Really though, great job getting that PR so early in this season. It's pretty inspiring and it got my competetive response kicked into gear.

Hey sorry I missed this post.  But yeah, I think podiums will be in reach for next year!  I just looked at the results and they have been updated since last I looked.  I'm going to take a guess and say you're Eduardo, forgive me if I'm wrong.  If so we are 7 & 9...Boo!  It's all good, more people to beat next year

It may seem early in the season for most, but I'm nearing the end of my HIM plan since I made the rookie mistake of picking a May race and had to endure training through the winter...I learned that's not the greatest idea living in Chicago.  So I'm guessing if this was a little later in the season you woulda had it!
