I'm also in for the fourth time.  Great race and even better venue.

I was wondering if anyone knew the best place to stay.  I am a long islander that has never been to Montauk.  Im looking for a place close to the race and close to a restaurant in town.  Thanks

Check out the RJA website, they list a number of very good places to stay that are all very close to the race venue.  Harborside is the race host and is located at the beginning and end of swim bike and run.  The Montauk Yacht Club may even be closer and from what I've heard is very nice.  Many restaurants close by.

I never stay out there as I am close enough to make the drive in the morning.  Indeed, I've come to really enjoy those early morning car rides through the Hamptons to the ocean.  As I've raced more and more over the past 4-5 years, I've come to realize that Montauk offers one of the best race venues anywhere in the country.

As I once posted, I vividly recall in the early morning, navigating the curves of 27, cresting a hill, the sun and mighty Atlantic dead ahead, all four windows down, briney ocean air blowing through what's left of my dissapating hair, Jerry Garcia and PigPen seranading "Turn On Your Love Light" and thinking almost out loud:  "Except for the deep blue innocence of my young childrens' eyes, what could be more incredible?"  Great Race, Great venue.  Good Luck.
