Please help me try to decide between a Trek 2.1 or a Felt Z85.

I have rode both, and they both feel great (compared to my hybrid).  Both are at the top of my price range and both appear to me to have very similar if not the same components.  This would be my first road bike and I anticipate using it for several years if that makes a difference.

Any opinions are appreciated.

It took me weeks to finally decide what bike I wanted. I ended up getting the Trek 4.5 and I love it. Both the 2.1 and the Z85 have Shimano 105 components which are very good. If they both fit good then go with the one you can see yourself crossing the finish line on

pick by paint scheme, or by whichever one lets you get in your preferred position with a flat stem and as few spacers as possible.

Don't get hung up on specific Brands. I ended up buying a Specialized Tarmac with 105's after spending a year looking. Now I am looking at a transition bike and the Specialized is to short for me but he QR Tequilo fits me better.

As for components they are trickle down last years Ultegras are this years 105's and so on all you are really saving on is weight.

Get what is comfortable to you and get a bike fit .

have fun deciding

Whatever fits best.

If they fit similar, I don't know the geometery of these bikes, support Felt it's a better company.

Either way those are great 1st or 2nd bikes.

Thanks everyone.  The bikes are so similar they ride and feel the same.  I have been stewing over this for a while but it is getting down to the time wheree I need to bite the bulet and purchase one or the other.

Maybe a coin flip....

I have made up my mind.  I went with the Trek 2.1 for two reasons:

1. It was available from my LBS who have been patient and helpful with me while I explored my options.

2. My wife like the colors of the Trek better, which helps me further justify my purchase.

Now if only it would stop snowing and raining here so I can ride!!

Congrats isn't that always the case though. when you get something new there is always something happening to keep you from using it.
