Subject: My Meat and Two Veg, Numb?

Fella's or knowledgeable (about this subject) ladies

I have a problem here. My (ya know) goes numb when riding the bike. I can't be on it for more than an hour before He goes to sleep, and this scares me!

So, I know it has to do a lot with my seat, some with my hand position, and some with my peddle stroke.

But, where to start when choosing a saddle?

I went to my LBS and they suggested whatever they had in stock. So I tried out there test saddle (Specialized Roman Expert http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/SBCEqProduct.jsp?spid=56719) and it worked for an hour on the trainer. No numbness :D!

But, I didn't have numbness initially when I first got my bike, it developed overtime.

So I am looking for a reliable saddle, that I know I will not become numb on, and I want your thoughts on an Adamo, Cobb, or SMP?

Thanks everyone

I checked Trisports.com, but didn't see and discounted demos for sale. On the other hand, I didn't even know they had demos so I will have to try that out! Thanks

FoggyGoggles - 2011-04-07 12:32 PM You can try out the Adamo line. They offer the split nose saddles that take the pressure off of your garbage and allow for proper blood flow. I checked trisports.com and they have their demos on sale for $25 right now.

I could be wrong (or misunderstood your post), but it looks like that $25 is the cost to borrow/demo a saddle. If one wants to subsequently purchase an Adamo, $20 is applied to the purchase...according to a block of bold text located on that page...

Please be advised that you are not purchasing this saddle. By ordering this demo saddle you are participating in our Demo Saddle Program.ease be advised that you are not purchasing this saddle. By ordering this demo saddle you are participating in our Demo Saddle Program.

Have you had a bike fit? If not start there.

If so was it comprehensive? Some are 40' and may have missed something.

If you had a fit call your fitter and ask for their help.

Some bike shops have demo or loaner saddles you can try out and see if they work for you.

Lots of good saddles out there. Cobb offers 6 month returns which makes it a great choice as you can get a full refund. If you call them the owner John will talk with you to help you pick the right saddle.

If you haven't gotten a bike fit do that first. Need a suggestion where to get a fit farther down on forums are forums for each state...post in your state to get some suggestions.

Yepp, this is what I caught from their website. You spend $25 to demo the saddle for 7 days. After that they charge you $20 a day for every day it is late. If you return it within the 7days, and want to buy a saddle from them, they take off $20. Basically, you spend $5 for demoing IF you buy a saddle from them.

I am having the numbness issue as well as just general discomfort issue.  I am currently riding the Fizik Arione Tri 2 saddle which is long and ideal for riding on the nose of the saddle.  I tried the Cobb Max and was not really a fan.  I am very interested in the Adamo line.  I have my first HIM in 4 weeks and was wondering if the Adamo break in period would have me adjusted to that new saddle by the race.
