Subject: Challenge 5000

I'm planning to complete a challenge set by some friends and I want to do it when I visit New York in the summer. The challenge is to do a 5k swim and then to ascend 5000 steps. 

Does anybody know if there are any 5k races/events organised in July or what website would have this information?
