Pre-race routine:

Woke up a bit late, got to race at 6:40am. Filled tires and the tube cracked, so I had to change the tire (which I'm not very good at). Was last person to setup in transition and I didn't have much faith in the tube I put on..
Swim
  • 03m 9s
  • 219 yards
  • 01m 22s / 100 yards
Comments:

I hate open water swimming so this was great for me. They sent swimmers every 15 secs, only had to pass one person.
What would you do differently?:

practice flip turns.
Transition 1
  • 01m
Comments:

data missing- was pretty smooth
Bike
  • 30m 49s
  • 10.3 miles
  • 20.05 mile/hr
Comments:

I would guess there were a few flat tires. Roads weren't too bad but there were some shady spots and glass. Wind was very strong and made for a very difficult home stretch.
What would you do differently?:

Was only on the bike three times this year- train more and don't leave in last years tubes- they were bound to go.
Transition 2
  • 00m 43s
Run
  • 24m 13s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt terrible during the run. Didn't get my legs at all. Course was nice and would've been fast if there wasn't strong wind.
What would you do differently?:

Shouldn't have gone out the night before.
Post race
Warm down:

Very nice setup with food etc.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Going out the night before and strong wind.

Event comments:

The course is short but it's early in the season and the recent crappy weather has not been conducive to training- so I was thankful. It was run very well with lots of police and vols on the bike/run. Received my first medal so happy with that but the performance could have been better. Wish the swim was longer but snaking your way down the pool worked really well.
The older racers owned the day... good on them. Definitely will come back next year and hopefully the wind won't be so bad.
