Event warmup:

A little stretching and a light swim
Swim
  • 22m 28s
  • 880 yards
  • 02m 33s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim was what I expected. I haven't had a lot of open water training this year so it took a while to get my rhythm down. Should have been sighting a little better because I tended to zig zag a lot.
What would you do differently?:

Better sighting
Transition 1
  • 02m 30s
Comments:

Had some problems getting the wetsuit off.
Bike
  • 41m 38s
  • 12 miles
  • 17.29 mile/hr
Comments:

The bank went fine. Had a few people pass me but for the most part maintained my position.
What would you do differently?:

Not much
Transition 2
  • 00m 58s
Run
  • 31m 53s
  • 3 miles
  • 10m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible.

I expected my run to be bad, but not this bad. My feet were numb coming off the bike and I just couldn't get them going. I had to stop a few times to stretch my feet and calves. I continue to have the same pain/numbing problems with my left shin and feet.
What would you do differently?:

Stretch my calves out while still on the bike.
Post race
Warm down:

Slammed down two free beers and headed to dinner.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of open water practice and foot problems on the run.

Event comments:

My time came in where I expected overall. This was my first tri in 4 years and I am happy with the progress I made since I started training. I weighed in at 201 before the race so this will be my last tri in the Clydesdale division. I'm down from 216 over the winter so I am making progress.

I have gone real slow on the run training in order to avoid injury but I am ready to safely bump up the mileage and get some real work in before the Denver Triathlon.
