Comments:

Course had large buoys but I still had a difficult time telling where I was on return swim.
What would you do differently?:

Difficult return to shore with sun directly in face, NEED TO GET TINTED watergoggles. Poor/difficult time with navigation. More open water swim practice needed. Get tri specific wet suit, too much drag with boating short-sleeve style suit.

Comments:

Hard to remove wetsuit, arms tough to get out of
What would you do differently?:

Get Tri wet-suit

Run
  • 32m 23s
  • 4 miles
  • 08m 06s  min/mile
Comments:

Some stomach muscle cramping and mild right foot pain
What would you do differently?:

Need to probably push harder but need a better base and to practice more BRICKS.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Slow swim and run, need more training in both

Event comments:

Looking forward to improving for next year!

Nice race Corey;
It was good to meet you before the start. I hope we run into each other next year. As for the swim. I had tinted goggles and I couldn't make the bouys out either. I hate swimming into the sun. You'd think they could have arranged it so that we swam parallel to the beach for a while instead of out and back.
A proper tri wet suit makes a big difference too.

Best

Thanks Ian,
Glad I got to meet you too. Defininately looking forward to next year, I'm sure we'll cross paths again. I agree with the swim portion, tough!
Cheers,
Corey

Great start on your triathlons. You now know what you have to build on for next year. Check the site often and learn to set up a training plan for next year. Use the winter to build your weakness'. There are many good races near Brainerd (within 2 hrs drive) and you should hit some of them next year.
