Subject: NYC triathlon affected by the sewage plant blast?

the cycle lane is closed up the hudson today because of the sewage plant explosion which resulted in raw sewage pumped into the river

they closed 4 ny beaches.

does anyone have any more information on this? the combination of sewage + the extreme heat makes me think bacteria levels might breach the safe limits resulting in a cancellation of the swim leg

Huh, I ran there this morning with no problems, but did see warnings about the water posted. I know NYCswim.org has been keeping up to speed in this. I think they have something posted on their website. They also have been posting updates on FB.
