Who's in for LBK 2.0?  Looks like they have made some nice changes to the course.  This year the swim will be in the lagoon instead of the Gulf, transition will be where parking was last year, the bike is nice and straight with all the road work finally finished and the run starts on the beach instead of ending there.  Should be a fast race for everyone.

Man that sounds like a fantastic course setup.  I have to keep this on the radar for 2012...

The only thing better than the course is the food.  They have the best pre-race dinner at packet pick-up the day before and an even better post race spread.

It is on my list, but I admit I am tentative. It does look good, I just have to get my training up to snuff. I'm hoping it will have cooled down a bit by the time this one starts.

You'll do fine.  It's not a true Olympic, it's more like a Super Sprint.  Last year the swim was at low tide and it was more of an aqua-jog than an OWS.  The bike is 20 miles instead of 25, plus its a straight course with tons of fans support.  Last year there were people at almost every driveway cheering.  The run is 5 miles instead of the 6.2 (10k) of an OLY.

Good luck with your training!

Thanks, it is on the list, I just have to drop the $'s on it. Doing that should help me break out of the funk I'm in.

Thanks again!

How was the water last year?  Was it wetsuit legal?  It seems that it would  be right on the edge of 78 +/-.  Late Oct is getting out there temp wise for my wimp in the water.  I think I will do it though.  Only have to decide on the temp, and get it past the  wife since that will make almost every weekend an event for Oct.  Maybe pass on Bills Beer Run which is the next weekend.

Tri-ingMike - 2011-09-05 5:42 PM How was the water last year?  SHALLOW, last year it was more of an Aqua-jog than a swim.  It was straight out into the Gulf and back.  The map for this year has the swim in the lagoon on the bayside instead of the Gulf.  Was it wetsuit legal? No, 80 degress last year. It seems that it would  be right on the edge of 78 +/-.  Late Oct is getting out there temp wise for my wimp in the water. Even 78 is warm to be in a suit for very long and as short as the swim was, you will probably loose time getting the suit off. I think I will do it though.  Only have to decide on the temp, and get it past the  wife BRING HER TO THE PRE RACE DINNER SATURDAY AND THE POST RACE MEAL AFTERWARDS. She'll want you to race more often if she thinks all races are like this one. since that will make almost every weekend an event for Oct.  Maybe pass on Bills Beer Run which is the next weekend. Reward yourself for having a good tri the week before and do the Beer Run twice.

I'm on the fence.  Probably depends on how I feel after doing the Sharks race on Siesta Key this weekend.

RedC, see ya at the Sharks' race.  I'll be part of the Fishhawk Tri Club.  I think 5 of us are going to race this weekend.  Stop by and say hello.

Hey, has anyone heard anything about red tide? I heard about a bloom in Charlotte Harbor and I'm hopeful that there is no trouble up in Sarasota, but I figured I'd ask.

Thanks

I haven't heard of any Red Tide blooms in the area.  I will be out at the beach later and will report back tonight.
