headed to the doc tonight my ears feel awful after 2 OWS's in the past week.

If you use drops after swimming, what kind? Also, any recomendations for earplugs? The wax kind, or something else.

*I HEAR YOU* or I would, except I had it myself

The doc will (likely, hopefully) give you good advice. I dry my ears out with a white vinegar and 70% alcohol mix (recommended by the Mayo Clinic online info) after EVERY SWIM no matter what kind of water.

And yes, I wear earplugs every swim now. Silicone (the 'wax' kind you mention).

Hope you feel better!

Several years ago I had a bad ear infection that was attributed to swimming (worst part was getting it while on a business trip and having to fly home, hurt so bad I went straight to the ER when I landed). I started using silicon ear plugs (Macks) as my daughter was using them since she had tubes.  I have since switched to foam ear plugs, the cheap ones that you can buy by the dozen at any hardware store.  I find them more comfortable in my ear, don't leak and also wear them as sound protection when needed.  I prefer the cylinder types (yellow in the pix below) vs the ones that are slightly longer and taper (orange below).

Yep, I have ear canals that just STORE water. I find that as long as I use ear drops (the swimmer's ear drops at the pharmacy) after EVERY swim I'm fine. Don't even need ear plugs, although I hear they help.

I have been using the white vinegar and alcohol mix for the last 20 years and never had swimmers ear.  Cheap and works great!
