Total Time = 1h 18m 22s
Overall Rank = 34/277
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 7/18
Pre-race routine:

Wake up too early for a pool swim. When are pool swim organizers going to allow people to drop their bike off the night before and collect their chip the night before? Then we can show up closer to our time instead of waiting around so long.
Event warmup:

None. Just walked around and waited.
Swim
  • 07m 59s
  • 300 yards
  • 02m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

It would be nice if the had a timing mat to walk over before jumping in the pool. The person telling us to go lost track of when we should start. My time was off by over a minute.
What would you do differently?:

When passing someone at the wall make sure I get a push off the wall. Had some problems getting around people at the walls.
Transition 1
  • 00m 30s
Comments:

Transition area is a bit dicey with all the gravel and was extremely crowded due to last minute changing of the transition bike racks. Managed to change quickly and run the entire way.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing is was good for me.
Bike
  • 45m 14s
  • 15 miles
  • 19.90 mile/hr
Comments:

Hillier than I remember. The metal road on Strawbridge Road is still a hazard. Maybe next year they will change the course but I doubt it.
What would you do differently?:

Could have pushed a little harder. This year I didn't have anyone around me really pushing my pace. I kind of went into relax mode up hills.
Transition 2
  • 00m 58s
Comments:

Gravel hurts feet.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing is was a perfect transition for me.
Run
  • 23m 39s
  • 3.25 miles
  • 07m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

I had been working on my run as of late. It helped. I was trying to get down to 7:15 miles but I ran out of gas. At the end it helped when I was passed.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. It was a good run for my fitness level.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked over and grabbed a slice of za.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Zoning out on the bike. I need to get a bike computer where I can see my speed all the time. The Garmin 310XT is a great watch but I feel I need the constant feedback of a dedicated in my face computer for motivation.

Event comments:

This year they had to re-setup the transition area AFTER most people were racked. They did not put up enough racks for the amount of bikes. I also heard they had astro turf to put down over the gravel transition but the organizer decided not to use it. Strawbridge road is dangerous. No questions about it.

Other than that it is a nice race. Everyone is friendly and does a great job. The poor decision making in the beginning did throw people off. Hopefully next year it will be better.

The swim time counts a part of transition. Since the transition area is on gravel they allow the racers to place their shoes out side of the transition area so you can put them on before running over the gravel.
