looking at a mountain bike for my 5'3"11 year old daughter. She's growing leaps and bounds,(thank God). local guy has a bike she loves, size is 15 inch. Slighty big, but she can ride it today with the seat at its lowest position. He thinks it will be good for next season (we're in NYC), the season after, and the third season is iffy if she continues to grow as quickly. That's the local guy. I found the same bike (brand), same color (important) for same price, but 17 inch, but it's about a 2 hour drive away and I'd really like to use the local guy.
.... so I guess what I'm looking for is COJ to convince me its not a dumb decision to buy the smaller bike, like I said its big enuf, and she has to use the lowest seat position, but on other hand, she's growing fast. Help!
I'd buy the smaller bike. This is a growing age for girls, the next 2-3 years after that they slow down. Also it is possible in 2-3 years she will want a road bike. We have a 9 year old with a hybrid that fits her well now and will for another 2 years or so but she already wants a road bike
