Subject: BarryP Offseason plan?

I have been reading the BarryP and I am still a little bit confused in what to do during the offseason?

I did Ironman Lousville, so I still have a lot of fitness, I am thinking in starting at 20 miles per week, should I just do phase 1 all the way until my race? how many miles should I go up and at what rate?if I just do phase 1 am i going to

I could not find anything about off-season, anyone did this program during the offseason?

I have no idea the answer to your question but rumor has it that BarryP himself is very good at/about answering questions about his plan. I would PM him directly (on that other site) and see what the man himself says.

What you do in the off-season should depend on your goals and constraints.

However, I would say the two things to maintain focus on are consistency and frequency. Work on those, and volume will naturally starting working upwards. As for how much to add, or where to top out at, this is where goals and constraints come into play. If you can't run every day, and can only run for an hour or so most days, then that's what you work up to. If you can run twice a day almost every day, and have the opportunity to run for two hours once a week, and maybe 90 minutes another day, then work to that level.

If you have the time/ability to keep going up for a while, doesn't that sort of answer your question right there? As far as where you'll stop seeing gains, i'm guessing somewhere way over the miles you'll probably be able to put in and years down the road.
