Swim
Comments: below average performance BUT better than Goleta with the hyperventilation. I maybe hyperventaliated for 15 secs before i calmed myself down. The only bummer was I couldnt get into a rythmic swim. Even tho I never stopped I couldnt do a continuous freestyle. What would you do differently?: Improve my swimming and want to do a 100% percent no stop swim Transition 1
Comments: Nothing to horrible. Had to pack T1 back before leaving so they could transport it back. I was winded from the swim and run up the sand. What would you do differently?: Just be more fluid with putting on my helmet, shoes, number band, and glasses. Bike
Comments: I thought I did really well on the bike. I hammered as much as I could trying to keep up at an 90 rpm cadence. On my garmin, i focused on my HR, cadence, and speed. I did not concern myself with the time. What would you do differently?: I did what I wanted to do. With some lost weight and maybe a little better fitness, I can go even faster. Transition 2
Comments: Fastest in my division What would you do differently?: go even quicker. Run
Comments: I was pretty gassed at this point. I tried to just look at the ground and run. I felt i was going real slow. I got the the BIG HILL and I had to walk a portion of it because i was tanked. At the halfway point, i got a little energy back but got a unusual side stitch at mile 2. I stopped for about 15 secs and I hammered home. I saw a guy who i thought was a competeting clydesdale and ran past him with about 250 yrds left. He passed me and I said what the heck I might as well put it into overdrive. I did and sprinted the last 50+ yards and beat him by 9 seconds. Well, he was the 5th place clyde so I am glad I put out the effort. I was spent the rest of the day. What would you do differently?: Get myself into tip top shape and lose some more weight Post race
Warm down: had water, gatorade, orange slice, and banana. They had cookies and I LOVE cookies but it wasnt what i wanted at the time. What limited your ability to perform faster: Poor swim performance and being gassed at the run. Also, I still have some weight to lose. Event comments: Good nice race for as big as it is. Awards ceremony took a long time. Overall, I am glad i did this race and was happy getting a 4th place medal and podium finish Last updated: 2011-09-12 12:00 AM

Nothing real special. Got there at 6am got all set up. Had a banana, Stinger waffle, and water. Before the race, I had a Roctane GU Gel
Stretched and acclimated to the water. Water was nice and not cold at all.
