I'm tempted to try the 1:30 pace group for the half.  Do they set the pace grops by full marathon times?  Per mile split times?  Separate pacers for half vs. full?  Or are all pacers for the full and you are on your own once the groups split?

There are seperate groups for the full and half. I think they are all listed on the website and you read abbot the pacers who will lead each group.

I'm heading down tonight after work.  My kids are volunteering so we have to go to the volunteer workshop starting at 7:00.  I'll be hangin' with the 1:40 pace group and hopefully at around mile 9 or 10 I can speed up and try to break 1;38, something like that.

Got my packet today over lunch.  All good in the hood.  Bring your confirmation email print off and avoid the line at the door to get your bib number!!

Solid expo. The 39.3 series booth got the better of me and I couldn't pass up the deal. Just signed up. Told myself it would be good training for IM KS. Plus the medal is pretty cool if you do the whole series.Ditto on what Ryan said. The only line was to get your reciept, so print it off beforehand.

NICE!  I conned my friend into signing up as well.

3 races, 3 t-shirts (4 if you count the extra from the sign up booth) 3 medals and then the series shirt and medal!  Can't beat that with a stick!

I'm helping spread the word with my Man Vs Triathlon project, and if things go well, I'll have Man vs Heartland 39.3 Series shirt specially made for the series!  Thoroughly kneaded muscle therapy and Push Endurance already on board!

Which would you rather race in, tech shirt with sleeves or running sleeveless??

I usually run sleeveless with pull on sleeves in necessary. I will be happy to promote your venture. First shirt is already ordered.

Oh, I am a sucker for a cool finisher medal. My wife saw the Disney marathon booth and I think she may be back at work planning a trip to Disney. I think trying the Dopey would be a good project for your man vs tri. I believe it is a three day event with a 5k, HM, and a full Mary on the third day. I would love to give that one a shot one day.

Speaking of temps --- it is going to be chilly for the race.  ~48 degrees at the start and not getting too much warmer too quickly during the race.  I have a lightweight vented long-sleeved top with a zipper for temp controls and can push up the sleeves if needed.  Compression shorts.  Lightweight gloves.  Possible headband ear warmers.  Sunglasses for the rising sun by the time we hit the Plaza.  My only change would be to knee-length tights (I refuse to call them capris) but that might be too hot by mid race.

You guys?

I will probably wear my normal sleeveless shirt with shorts and calf compression. Once I start running, I warm up fairly quickly. So I will check my warm pre race gear in the bag just before the race.

I prefer to go with a cheap pair of pajama pants and a cheap t-shirt to wear for the first mile or so until i warm up.  Cheap gloves as well.  I just ditch clothes as I run so I don't have to worry about picking them up afterwards.  Worked well last year and my wife actually found my Frosted Flakes cheapo t-shirt after I shed it last year.  I think I spent $5 on clearance clothes last year.  And, you help the homeless by leaving clothes for them... nevermind they are a little salty and sweaty.

Thanks for the support!  Sending your shirt out tomorrow after I pick them up!  I'm pumped as the pictures of the print look awesome!

I'm probably going sleeveless with pull on sleeves.  Once I heat up after a few miles, the sleeves are coming off...

And thanks for the tip about printing off the confirmation email. I'm heading there tomorrow, and I'm expecting some lines....

Wow, I bet people were wondering "why the hell is this guy doing in his pajamas?!".  I just hope they were tear-aways...

I felt pretty good on my "keep it loose" run this morning so I will give the 1:30 pace group a shot.  Jon, are you with me???

And I will be race number 8510

Patrick, I will surely be cursing your name as you guys turn for home, and I will still have 18 miles to go. My final plan is to hang with the 3:50 pacers for the first 5 to get me up the Liberty Memorial Hill without destroying myself. That thing is no joke, and I have a tendancy to come out a little fast. I know Mark can attest to that. I "plan" on running my own race after that. If all goes well I will finish around the 3:45 group. Any of you guys planning on hanging around for a couple of hours after you finish?

Mind if I tie a rope to you and you can drag me along to a 3:45 finish if I can't keep up?

Absolutely not.  I could use all of the support I can get.  I have found my pace seems to correspond nicely with all of the best pace booty.  Any faster, and there are mostly guys.  That is what I tell myself anyways.

My family's volunteering as course monitors.  Even though I'm only running the half, they'll be somewhere between mile marker 14 and 15.  So if all goes as planned, I'll be drinking my chocolate milk, stuffing my face with bagels or something while I'm looking for the beer.  And hopefully at that time you marathoners are thinking " I sure hope they don't run out of beer", and "why did I sign up for the full? :P"

I'll probably not leave until 1:00 or so since my kids will be expecting the lunch they were promised in the volunteer tent.  But then I have to book home take a shower cuz I'm going to the Sporting KC game.

Doc gave me the clear to run.  I have PTTD.  He gave me some stuff to do to strengthen the tendon and told me to keep my stride short and knees in correct form.  So, I get to run, but should keep my mind on form- not fast.  Much more fun anyway

well that's awesome.  Earn those beers...

Bib # 4772

And damn, spent way too much at the expo and somehow DID NOT sign up for the 39.3.  But man, it was tempting.  I will see everyone at Rock the Parkway, though.

Just picked up my packet.  Now I am in race mode!!!!!  Dinner with family while I am in town and the traditional bottle of Stella about 8:00, then off to bed by 9:30.

Jon and Reece (because I know what you look like in person), I will do my best to look out for you.  I will have a white Nike long-sleeved zippered top with black Pearl Izumi compression shorts and white rimmed sunglasses.  Probably have a neon yellow pullover running top during pre-race.  I plan to stick around and cheer in the marathoners and have a beer with you guys. I also may need a ride to near 119th & Roe depending on my wife's schedule and when she has to haed back to Topeka.
