Pre-race routine:

Race was originally a triathlon, but was changed to a swim only because of dangerous swim and impassable bike route.

Comments:

Run is on the beach road and the winds were bad. It was a cross tail on the way out and then a really tough cross head on the way back. At times on the way back you struggled to move forward.

Event comments:

We really wanted to race and up until Wednesday, it looked like they would be able to have it. This race is on Pensacola Beach and the area is still recovering from Hurricane Ivan last year. This is normally a big race, very nice awards, and a great post race party. The area is had very rough surf and the sand blew over the road that would have been the bike path, so they changed it to a 5K on Thursday. They still had a great party and gave away 2 bikes and lots of prizes.

Glad you were able to make the best of it. I loved that race in previous years, that and Mullet Man have taken it hard because of Ivan. I guess I got outta there at just the right time.
